The Guggenheim exhibition was presented at the Palazzo Reale. The Thannhauser collection, from Van Gogh to Picasso scheduled this fall. The exhibition confirms the extraordinary nature of the Milanese institution, now an international reference point for art and culture.
What will we see exposed? About fifty works created by the great artists of Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and the avant-gardes of the early 1900s: to name a few, Cézanne, Degas, Gauguin, Manet, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh and Picasso.
This extraordinary group of paintings and sculptures was part of the collection of the German art dealer Justin K. Thannhauser (1892–1976), who he donated in 1963 to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. Since then, you can admire it at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Thannhauser's second wife, Hilde, donated ten other works to the museum in 1984, definitively entering the Guggenheim collection when she died in 1991.
